He is expected to be sent to the minor leagues to get some work in.

The Chicago Cubs have agreed to a seven-year, $41 million contract with Anthony Rizzo.

The new deal includes two club options at the back end of the contract that could make it worth as much as $73 million over nine years.

Rizzo, 23, is hitting .288 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs in his third major league season.

The have agreed to a minor league deal with veteran pitcher Roy Oswalt, according to an ESPN.com report.

The team announced the news on its Twitter account Thursday, with Oswalt expected to report to extended spring training.

The 35-year-old Oswalt has a career record of 163-96.
